// CONGOLESE AFRO-TRAP GOMA SINCE 2025

Igxo Scarla

"Igxo Scarla is a Congolese rapper and singer from Goma, now part of RIA Entertainment's roster. He came up in the Goma crew Seksion Kinois before going solo with "Def. Vibe" in 2024, building out a catalog of French- and Lingala-inflected street tracks like "Bonjour" and "Kapita" — all pulled together on his current release, the EP "Under Cover" (May 2026) — plus a guest verse on Pryce Teeba's Kampala cypher "Dozen Deep.""

/ BIOGRAPHY & PRESS STORY

Igxo Scarla's entry into rap started the way a lot of real rap careers start: alone in front of a mirror, mouthing along to Booba lyrics until he had his own flow down. He tried it out in front of classmates at school, and the reaction told him he had something. He came up through Seksion Kinois, a rap crew based in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo's eastern rap scene — a scene where recording and performing has historically doubled as a way for Congolese youth to speak on realities the region's conflict makes hard to say out loud any other way.

Booba remains his clearest reference point, and it shows in his delivery — French-language bars over Afro-trap and street-rap production, moving fluidly into Lingala and Swahili phrasing on tracks like "Talanga Na Miso" and "Acha Ni Party." Going solo from Seksion Kinois in 2024 with "Def. Vibe," Igxo Scarla has described that period as a genuinely hard stretch — the single doubled as him working out his own sound and his own head at the same time, rather than a calculated debut.

Since then he's built a steady release run: "Bonjour" (March 2025), "Kapita" (July 2025, backed by its own music video), "Headshot" (May 2026), "Bad Gal," and "Acha Ni Party" featuring an artist credited as Somebody — culminating in his current release, the EP "Under Cover" (May 15, 2026), RIA's own catalog's most recent entry for him. He also stepped outside his own catalog for a guest verse on Ugandan hip-hop veteran Pryce Teeba's 2025 posse cut "Dozen Deep Cypher," sharing the track with a deep bench of Kampala rap names including Bemba Simba, Ambroy, Ruyonga, and Alpha DT — a real marker of his standing in the wider Kampala scene despite being a Goma-born artist.

"Under Cover" is the clearest focus release in his catalog right now — his newest and most current drop, pulling together the run of singles that includes "Kapita," itself backed by an official music video. Igxo Scarla hasn't put a specific mantra or quote on record publicly yet, so none is included here — his story so far is told through the run of releases rather than an interview trail.
